Are You Taking This Essential Vitamin?
With a whopping 75% of US teens and adults being deficient in Vitamin D, we have to wonder why this "sunshine" vitamin is lacking in our current lifestyles!

Weirdly enough Vitamin D is actually not a vitamin but a steroid hormone responsible for a number of processes in the body. Vit D helps regulating mineral absorption, to disease prevention and gene expression.

HOW DO I GET VITAMIN D?
Since the body cannot supply all of the Vitamin D needed, sometimes supplementation is needed, and in most cases, everyone should be taking this essential vitamin.
RECOMENDATIONS:
- Get your vitamin D tested by your doc- The test is called 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D
- if you are below 50ng/ml you are deficient, you should be above 50, under 120
- Take a CLEAN, D3 supplement, make SURE it is not synthetic- my favorite brands are NOW, Vital,
- Take 500-1000 IU of D3 daily
- INCREASE VITAMIN D RICH FOOD
- Fish liver and eggs (yummy), salmon, sardines, shellfish, organ meats, non-pastured organic full-fat dairy products, cod liver oil, raw pastured butter
- Make sure you are eating vitamins A and K to help the absorption of D, remember they all work together (this is why the synthetic ones do NOT work)
- DO NOT consume fortified enriched D foods, they are synthetically made and BAD
